Middleham – visit the famous racehorse stables and watch the horses being put through their paces on Middleham Moor, or enjoy the magnificent, although sadly ruined Middleham Castle. Hawes – most famous as the centre of manufacture of Wensleydale Cheese (marketed by Wallace & Gromit) you can visit the Hawes Dairy and watch the cheese being made. Alternatively, visit the Hawes Ropemakers that have been making ropes in the town for over 100 years. Bolton Castle – A fabulous castle standing over Wensleydale, with great gardens and breathtaking views. Wensleydale Railway – you can still get off the train at Finghall station thanks to the tireless work of the Wensleydale Railway Association which has lovingly relaid the track and now runs both diesel and steam engines along the line from Leeming Bar to Redmire….and return!! Market Towns – the Queens Head is equidistant from Leyburn, Bedale and Richmond, three vastly differing market towns, each well worth a visit. The Forbidden Corner – this remarkable attraction started life as a private folly in Tupgill Park, but has developed into the most fascinating and enthralling visitor attraction with something for all.
